In the municipality of Castellana there are three kilometers of caves, a path along which you can admire the presence of stalactites, stalagmites, canyons and fossils. Majestic, dark in some areas, they will give you incredible images.

Castellana Caves: visit advices
There are two itineraries, a longer and a shorter ones, both available only if accompanied by a guide.
Along the path, the guides will show you a specific point where you can decide if stopping or continuing with the exploration. If you decide not to proceed, you will miss the Grotta Bianca: the true protagonist of this excursion! Also thanks to this white cave the Castellana caves easily win the competition with all the other caves in Italy. The soil is slightly slippery because of humidity and the path has a medium degree of difficulty: remember to wear casual clothes. The tour lasts approximately 100 minutes.
We suggest you to visit the official website in order to proceed with the reservation and to look at the rates and collecting useful information. During the year it is very frequent to meet schoolchildren and summer camps, but you do not have to be afraid: if you do not already have a reservation, you can do it last minute on site and wait outside the caves for your turn. There are benches and a well attended area.
